With hundreds of Out-Of-School Children In Ebonyi State.

Doubt it all you want, but I make BOLD to say that @USFAcademy is one of the best things that has ever happened to Ebonyi State in recent times.

 

USF_Academy is a tuition-free school fully dedicated to the educational, moral, and skill-development needs of out-of-school children and teenagers. They are located in Ikelagu Village, Ishieke, Ebonyi LGA, Ebonyi State, Nigeria 🇳🇬.

 

According to the  Nigerian Multidimensional Poverty Index ( NMPI), 2022, as reported in UNICEF's 2024  Updated Situation Analysis of children and adolescents in Nigeria, 16.7% of children aged 6 -15 are out of school in Ebonyi State. In real numbers, that is approximately 151,000 children between the ages of 6 and 15 who are not in school. And if teenagers aged 16 - 19 are factored in, what we have is not just a statistic -  it is a crisis.

 

Since the inception of USF Academy in Ikelagu Village, Ebonyi LGA, in June 2025, they have taken 42 children and teenagers off the street through their tuition-free education. But how does that impact the number of out-of-school children in Ebonyi, you may ask?

 

Let's do a simple calculation.

151,000 − 42 = 150,958.

 

Within one year, USF Academy has contributed a 0.03% reduction in Ebonyi State's estimated 151,000 out-of-school children. In other words, they have reached nearly 3 out of every 10,000 out-of-school children and they are operational in just one village. Imagine what becomes possible if they are empowered to spread into other villages and LGAs across Ebonyi State and eventually across Nigeria.

 

Now, you know 0.03% sounds insignificant.

 

But that percentage represents 42 real children. 42 lives whose hope for a better future has been restored. 42 whole destinies who no longer wake up every morning roaming the streets aimlessly or pushing wheelbarrows. We are talking about 42 children who, before their enrollment with USF Academy, could not properly identify the letters of the alphabet, could not read, write, understand, or communicate in simple English. Today, they can.

 

That 0.03% represents Ebonyi's and Nigeria’s future Entrepreneurs, Governors, Pilots, Lawyers, Changemakers, for the future we hope for.

 

If they could contribute this much, with limited resources and zero governmental recognition or grant, imagine what they could do if the government and well-meaning organisations chose to partner with and support their work.

 

The management of USF Academy, believe that every child deserves access to education - regardless of where they come from or what they have been through. They believe that with proper education, every child can blossom, discover their God-given potential, and rise to become who they were created to be.

 

They believe that an educated child today becomes a responsible, productive citizen tomorrow, one who is able to contribute meaningfully to the development of our nation and the world at large.

This is the heartbeat and motivation behind USF Academy.

 

This article is getting  longer than planned, but I will end where I started: USF ACADEMY IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS THAT HAS HAPPENED TO EBONYI STATE IN RECENT TIMES.
