FOR THE DAYS YOU’RE WRESTLING WITH FAITH.
Faith doesn’t always grow under clear skies. We often expect our spiritual journeys to be a series of mountain peak experiences, radiant with certainty and effortless joy. But real, resilient faith is rarely forged in the sunshine.
Sometimes, it grows in the wilderness, where questions linger, prayers feel unanswered, and the path ahead is entirely obscured. Yet, even in the thickest fog, God is present. Like seeds pushing through heavy, dark soil, the deepest roots of our faith are often formed during our seasons of deepest struggle. The darkness isn’t a sign of God’s absence; it is often the very soil of your transformation.
If you find yourself wrestling with difficult questions about God, suffering, or belief, you are not alone. Throughout Scripture, God’s people have brought their raw doubts, fear, and honest questions before Him. Think of David crying out in the Psalms or Job demanding answers in the midst of his grief. They didn’t present polished, perfect versions of themselves. They brought their pain. And in return, they discovered that God does not abandon us in our confusion; instead, He meets us there with overwhelming grace and truth.
I remember a season in my own life when I felt completely left out and forsaken. Outwardly, I was going through the motions, but inwardly, I was drowning in uncertainty. I believed I was entirely on my own. Looking back, however, I can see that God’s hand was over me the entire time. I was simply blinded by my circumstances, mistaking a season of pruning for a season of abandonment.
As believers, we can find profound rest in God’s sovereignty, even when life feels confusing or painful. What we learn in the dark gently reminds us of that doubt and faith actually can exist side-by-side as we continue seeking God. Having doubts doesn’t mean you lack faith; it means your faith is alive and searching for deeper roots. It is vital for us to bring our pain honestly before the Lord, dropping our masks and discovering His presence in the very midst of our ache.
The Bible acts as our ultimate guide, pointing us directly to the person of Jesus Christ. The reflective examples of those who walked before us- flawed, questioning, yet deeply loved individuals, help us cultivate a quieter, more profound walk with God. Their stories reminds us that perfection isn’t a prerequisite for intimacy with our Creator, God.
If your faith feels uncertain, fragile, or bruised today, let the scripture offer wise companionship for your journey. Even in your seasons of heavy questioning, God is faithfully, gently drawing you closer to Himself.
Explore the scripture today. Lay down the burden of needing to have it all figured out, and find the resources, honesty, courage and hope you need to make just the next step.
He is holding you, even in the dark.
